As we promote youth and entrepreneurship, we are featuring entrepreneurial student leaders showcasing how each one has made an impact on their community across North America. In this blog, Dr. Yvonne Wang shares how she has made an impact in the entrepreneurial community in Edmonton.
How did your experience with the Accounting & Finance Student Association contribute to you realizing your career goals?
For me, the Accounting and Finance Student Association doesn’t contribute to my career goals. The Accounting and Finance Student Association allows me to give back to my academic community and help shape the landscape of business so that it be most beneficial for students in the future. What I do appreciate about the experience is the ability to practice skills that differ from my major and the ability to meet many like minded students, on campus, and across Canada.
If you had a chance to get mentored by one person, who would it be and why?
Paul Beeston. I have always been interesting in using my accounting and finance background in the sports industry.
What are your top 3 reasons students should join the Accounting & Finance Student Association?
1) Give back to your student community
2) Meet like minded students from your major
3) Develop some transferable skills outside of the practical skills from your major
